Climate change effects, floods, droughts, heatwaves are impacting countries worldwide bringing misery to million of people. These uncontrollable factors coupled with the threat of "double dip" deflation, which to many seem equally uncontrollable are certainly the key concerns in this 3rd Quarter of 2010. 

Last Friday morning, 27th August 2010, the world heard Bernanke's confirmation that the US Economy is indeed slowing down, but stock markets rose in defiance causing Rob Russell, President of financial planning firm Russell & Company, to say,"The market is starving for something decent to look at,"  Stock markets movements are hardly a good predictor of the economy. Nor would the significant increase of more than 1% across all US indices on Friday indicate that one should not worry about a double dip deflation. Old ways of doing things must give way to new. Here is a prediction about industries that may not exist after the next decade.  Most of them are already in straight declines.

Recently The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics published an interesting study about the way employment will change over the next several years. It specifically identified 10 American industries that will see the biggest declines in employment between the years 2008-2018. Some are surprising, and others are industries that have long been due to die.

Breakthroughs are habit changing, lifestyle changing. New technologies, utilities, widgets are created constantly and brought to market.  The Breakthroughs we like to feature would increasingly be those that will create a more sustainable world.  Most of them may not be new to the world but many promise to bring about life impacting improvements.  Some like the Iphone; blogging; social networks like facebook, myspace and whole array of Web2  apparatus... the technoratis, de.lic.ious, Diggs have created "breakthrough" waves.  Whether these waves would change people's (at least in some niches)

Biomimicry is a New science and art of emulating Nature's best biological ideas to solve human problems. The concept of biomimicry suggests that modern innovators follow the designs that nature has developed to withstand the test of geologic time. If natural designs are superior to anything that us humans have come up with, so why not “mimic nature” in the development of all our modern technologies?

Instat project Market for Embedded Pico projector Modules in Cellphones, Netbooks and Consumer Devices to Exceed $1 Billion.  It is a totally new market.   Samsung W7900 is the First Brand Name, Non-Prototype Projector Phone but can so far only be used in Korea Only.

Mini and Micro- handheld projectors many of which may be projected off mobile phones is less of a new product, but the latest ranges feature High Definition with real cool sound and images.
